Trust the process.
One of the beautiful things about Zentangle is that we don’t always know where a line will take us. One stroke leads naturally to another, a pattern begins to emerge, and slowly, almost unexpectedly, a finished piece takes shape.
There is something comforting about that process.
We often want to know how things will turn out before we begin. We make plans, imagine the outcome, and sometimes hesitate when we cannot see the whole picture. But creativity invites us to do something different—to begin without knowing exactly where we are going.
As I create each crest, I experience this again and again. The string gives me a starting point, but the patterns, lines, and colours have a way of unfolding in their own time. What begins as an uncertain first step can become something I could never have planned.
Perhaps life is a little like that too.
We may not know what the next chapter will look like, but we can trust ourselves to take the next step. We can allow things to unfold, make adjustments along the way, and remain open to unexpected possibilities.
Today, as you create, notice if you can let go of the need to know the outcome. Enjoy the line you are drawing right now. Let the next one reveal itself when it is ready.
